Meditation Improves Quality Of Life And Functional Health

A recent study conducted by the University of Sydney has confirmed our long-held belief and recommendations about the value of meditation for your health and wellbeing.  Whilst this traditional practice has long been viewed in Western culture as “alternative”, the evidence is mounting in the scientific literature about the enormous benefits of meditation for your health and wellbeing.

This latest study investigated Quality of Life and Functional Health Status of Long-Term Meditators, demonstrating a direct correlation between the practice of meditation and vitality, general health, and even mental health measures.

Previously, we outlined how to meditate, and gave you an insight into the most effective strategies and techniques to implement when you begin practicing meditation.  Though meditation is not a traditional strategy taught within most gyms, the Inspire Fitness gym is not concerned about what’s traditional!  Our holistic health approach to fitness means that our personal trainers and exercise physiologists seek out the best evidence-based strategies available, to improve the health of our clients.

We all lead a busy schedule with work, study, and family commitments, all of which increases our exposure to stress.  Stress triggers an array of hormonal and physiological responses within the body which, over time and with high exposure, can be detrimental to your overall health and energy levels.  Meditation is one method of buffering these responses within your body; recent research illustrates that the science behind the technique is compelling.  Now all you need to do is make time to meditate!
